UNC Greensboro Fosters Youth Concussion Reporting

I hope this note finds you well. It is estimated that, due to a host of factors, over 50 percent of sports-related concussions go unreported. As we head into the busiest time of the year for youth sports camps and off-season athletics practice, it is as pertinent as ever to raise awareness about the importance of concussion reporting among young athletes.

It is my pleasure to introduce you to Dr. David Wyrick, professor of public health and education and founder of the Institute to Promote Athlete Health & Wellness at UNC Greensboro. Dr. Wyrick has spearheaded multiple evidence-based initiatives to increase concussion reporting among youth athletes and is currently working on a collaborative approach to reduce the time between concussion symptom onset and treatment. As a prevention scientist, Dr. Wyrick contributes significantly to the body of research surrounding concussion reporting and has extensive experience in prevention research, evaluation and the optimization of behavioral interventions.

I would be happy to assist in coordinating an interview with Dr. Wyrick for him to unpack the findings of his work and provide your readers with relevant knowledge about concussion reporting in this time of heightened activity for youth sports.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to potentially working on a story together.
